Woman killed after being struck by car while looking for phone in roadway

Police said Sunday no charges are anticipated for the driver involved in the incident.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - A 24-year-old woman died from her injuries Sunday after she was struck by a car while looking for her lost cell phone in Thomas Road early Saturday morning, police said.

According to Scottsdale PD, the woman identified as Jesena Andony, of Canada, was riding in a golf cart with a group when someone lost their phone on Thomas Road near 68th Place around 1:45 a.m.

The cart pulled over and the victim got out and walked into the roadway to look for the phone.

That's when a pickup truck driving westbound struck her. The driver remained on scene and impairment and speed are not factors in the crash, police said.

Police said Sunday no charges are anticipated for the driver involved in the incident.
