PHOENIX - A quick thinking garbage truck driver saved himself and his truck when the load he was hauling caught fire.

Alan Rodriquez was working his collection route near Central and Roosevelt streets when drivers flagged him down alerting him to the fact that his truck was on fire.

He said he pulled into a record store parking lot near 2nd Street, and dumped the load.

Phoenix Fire Department responded to the call and quickly extinguished the burning trash just before 9:30 a.m. Monday.

Rodriquez was shaken, but uninjured during the experience.
