Report: Uber’s self-driving cars were struggling before fatal Tempe crash

The New York Times says, according to a 100-page report they got from Uber, that the vehicles were struggling to meet the company's target of 13 miles per intervention in Arizona.

The New York Times is reporting that Uber’s self-driving cars were having problems months before the fatal crash in Tempe.

According to the New York Times, the self-driving vehicles were having issues while operating through construction zones and next to other taller cars.

The New York Times says, according to a 100-page report they got from Uber, that the vehicles were struggling to meet the company's target of 13 miles per intervention in Arizona.

In comparison, Waymo, which also operates self-driving cars in the Valley, told the New York Times that during tests on California roads last year, its cars would go about 5,600 miles before a driver had to take control and steer from trouble.

Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, is expected to visit Arizona in April.
