Puppy returned safely to shelter after video shows her being taken

The shelter said it will not be pressing charges against the man who appeared in the security footage after Everglade's safe return.

PHOENIX - A 2-month-old puppy has been returned after surveillance footage was shared showing her being taken from Arizona Animal Welfare League's Phoenix shelter Sunday afternoon.

Shelter officials said Everglade looks healthy, energetic and is eating. AAWL had been concerned for the puppy's safety because she takes medication daily and was being monitored by a medical team before she was taken.

AAWL said because one of the men in the security footage returned her safely, charges will not be pressed. Everglade was cared for while she was gone.

The shelter released a statement thanking the community for all the support.

"One of the men in the security footage saw the news stories and immediately called the shelter. This puppy was returned safe and sound due to the community support. Thank you for your help collecting the facts, sharing the story and making this happen."
