Posh planes make luxury landings at Scottsdale Airport for Phoenix Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Have you ever wondered what it's like to really fly in style? Yeah, we have too.

The Scottsdale Airport is bustling this week with dozens of private jets landing and delivering people from all over the world to the Phoenix Open.

FlexJet crews gave us a tour of their Gulfstream 650. It is one of the largest and most luxurious private jets that comes in and out of the Scottsdale Airport. It can hold 15 passengers and the cabin is almost 50 feet long. Its overall length and wingspan both stretch around 100 feet.

The jet can fly up to around 560 mph, at an altitude of around 51,000 feet, depending on weather and other factors.

The G650 is full of personal touches, from the crystal, to handpicked furniture, flat screen TV's, unique carpet design and even a wine cooler. It is somewhat rare to see colors and materials as customized as the G650 in private jets.

There are 16 panoramic windows and it can cruise for more than 14 hours. That makes the longer overseas trips more comfortable. The G650 has its own specially assigned flight crew too.

Online reports from the New York Times reveal that a jet like this can cost upwards of around $67 million.

A Scottsdale Airport spokesperson says they expect to see an increase in flights by about 10 to 15 percent during the week of the Phoenix Open. The runway can be even busier when Barrett-Jackson is in the Valley.
