PHOENIX — Investigators said they believe Sunday's stormy weather may have been a factor in causing a three-vehicle collision that killed a 72-year-old woman.

The collision occurred at about 3:40 p.m. near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Faila Butunga, 72, was a passenger in one of the involved vehicles and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police said the vehicle Butunga was riding in drifted into the northbound lane of traffic and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by a teenager. A third vehicle then struck one of the other vehicles.

Two young children in one of the cars were taken to the hospital for serious injuries, police said.

None of the involved drivers displayed signs of impairment and weather is believed to be a factor in causing the crash.
