Police: Gilbert school bus driver failed to yield causing crash that injured 2

Police say the bus driver was making a right turn on a red light and failed to yield to the other car causing a crash near Baseline Road and Stapley Drive in Mesa.

MESA, Ariz. — A Gilbert Public School District bus driver failed to yield causing a crash in Mesa Tuesday that sent two adults to a nearby hospital, police said. 

According to the Mesa Police Department, the bus driver was making a right turn on a red light and failed to yield to the other car causing a crash near Baseline Road and Stapley Drive.

The driver of the car that hit the bus has serious injuries, and the bus driver was hospitalized as a precaution, according to firefighters on the scene Tuesday. 

None of the 36 Harris Elementary students on the bus were injured. 

Mesa police said there are no indications that any criminal charges were made.
