Phoenix Police Department joins neighborhood watch app

Phoenix police said they will be using the Neighbors app to monitor crime and send updates to the community.

PHOENIX — Phoenix police can now monitor what’s going on in your neighborhood with a smartphone.

The Phoenix Police Department said Wednesday that it has joined the Neighbors app by Ring. The app is a digital neighborhood watch where you can get real-time crime and safety alerts from neighbors and law enforcement.

Police said they will be using Neighbors to monitor crime and send updates to the community on “key crime incidents.”

Police will not, however, be monitoring the app 24/7, so it should not be used as a primary reporting tool.

For emergencies and crimes in progress, call or text 911. To report a crime or file a police report, call Crime Stop at 602-262-6151. Remain anonymous by calling Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.
