PHOENIX — Two people are dead and four others are injured after a shooting near 27th and Northern avenues in Phoenix, authorities said.
According to police, there was a verbal altercation at a party in the area early Tuesday morning. The suspect left before coming back and opening fire.
Authorities arrived to find six people had been shot. Two of them, 17-year-old Shelby Verderosa and 30-year-old Jorge Rodriguez, are dead, police said.
Police said four men, ranging in ages from 22 to 56, were taken to a local hospital. The four injured are expected to survive.
Police said the shooter was known to the party-goers and the fight may have been over a relationship. That suspect, police say, was taken into custody later in the morning Tuesday.
According to police, a vehicle which matched the description of the suspect's vehicle was spotted near 33rd and Northern avenues with a flat tire. Officers surrounded the suspect and took him into custody.
Police did not release the suspect's name but said a handgun was used in the shooting.
