PEORIA, Ariz. - Police are searching for two masked men who walked into a smoke shop in an attempted robbery and had a shootout with the owner.

It happened at Gifts and Cigars Smoke Shop on 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive in Peoria about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Peoria Police Department.

At least one of the two men walked in his his gun already drawn. Several bullets were exchanged between them and the owner.

The owner was not hurt. Police have not determined if either suspect was injured, but they were able to run off.

There is no detailed description available for the suspects or their vehicle.

The masked men were dressed similarly to the men caught on security cameras in a string of armed robberies across Phoenix Wednesday morning.

Officer Brandon Sheffert said it was too early to determine if this attempted robbery was connected.
