Peoria Fire-Medical crew helps deliver baby on Christmas

Mom and baby are doing well, according to a tweet from Peoria Fire-Medical.

A Peoria Fire-Medical crew made a special Christmas delivery.

The Engine 191 & Rescue 191 crew helped get a mother to the hospital after her baby was delivered at home around 1 a.m. on Christmas.

Peoria Fire Captain Aaron Greathouse said that responding to labor calls isn't new, but this was the first where he has delivered a baby on scene.

"This one was definitely kind of a unique scenario," he said. "It was special all around."

Delivering on Christmas morning was a surprise to both responders and the family and Greathouse says it's a moment he remember.

"To have it happen on Christmas will definitely be one of those memories we look back on. One of those career calls."

The mother and baby were taken to Thunderbird Hospital where they are doing great, according to Peoria Fire-Medical.
