Photos on social media show a racist prom-posal that appears to have come out of a Mesa high school. The sign in the post is being called "disgusting."
A tweet shows a young woman in front of a sign that says, "IF I was black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm White So I'm Picking YOU 4 Prom?"
A prom-posal is a "proposal" a student makes to ask another to prom.
The post says the students involved are from Mountain View High School.
In a statement, Mesa Public Schools condemned the message.
"Mesa Public Schools and Mountain View High School do not condone the contents of the message posted on a student's personal social media account. The parents of the students involved have been notified," a spokesperson said in an email to 12 News.
The person who tweeted the photos noted the photos are not of her. The photos appear to be screen grabs from Instagram or Snapchat.
