PHOENIX — Police said Monday a 29-year-old suspect is in custody and uninjured after an overnight search caused a local freeway to close.
The Phoenix Police Department said Sunday night that the man was involved in a police shooting in the area of 27th and Grand avenues.
When officers arrived to the scene, the suspect immediately fled.
Interstate 17 was closed in both directions just before 7 p.m. due to the police incident, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The northbound closure was at Thomas Road while the southbound closure was at Indian School Road. The freeway was partially reopened around 9 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Monday the suspect was located and detained. Officers determined he was not injured by officers during last night's incident.
Officials did not immediately release who fired a weapon or when.
The investigation is ongoing.
