TEMPE, Ariz. - A Glendale high school football coach was attempting to have sexual conduct with an undercover officer who he thought was a 14-year-old boy, according to court documents.
According to the documents, Mountain Ridge High School football coach Vincent Ciliberti was communicating with the "boy" via an instant messaging app.
The Tempe Police Department said the investigation started Thursday, Jan. 31 at 5:45 p.m.
According to court paperwork, Ciliberti, 35, said he wanted to have a sexual relationship with the "boy" and responded to a location in Mesa to have sex with him.
According to Tempe PD, Ciliberti was one of four men arrested during the investigation by the department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Among the men were 23-year-old Dakota Lee Reaney of Scottsdale and 37-year-old Christopher Nuttall of Mesa. A third man, 33-year-old Ernest Renteria drove from Downy, California, court paperwork says.
Officers from the department posed as underage teens online and were contacted by the men, including Ciliberti. The men, according to court documents, were arrested after showing up at prearranged locations.
Ciliberti was arrested and booked on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
Tempe PD said there is "no indication" Ciliberti has had physical contact with a minor.
The Deer Valley Unified School District sent a letter to Mountain Ridge High School parents saying Ciliberti passed all the "required background checks during the hiring process including the fingerprint clearance check."
