PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting outside of a McDonald's restaurant in Phoenix Wednesday night, police said.
On Feb. 13 around 8 p.m near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road, an unknown male suspect asked a man if he could borrow his cell phone, authorities said.
The man, identified as Eric Hernandez, gave the phone to the suspect, who then ran away with the phone. According to police, Hernandez chased the suspect was shot.
Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot and Hernandez was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Investigators are still trying to identify the suspect. Police said it is possible the suspect may hang out in the area of the shooting.
