PHOENIX - One Valley woman says, drama or not, she's not missing the historic royal event! She’s already packed for the trip, and this isn’t the first time her royal obsession has taken her across the pond.
Jane Bemmerl is so excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tying the knot, her only hope is that the experience lives up to the Royal wedding she saw in 2011.
Her royal obsession started when she was just a little girl.
“It was Lady Di's wedding, my dad and I got up and watched that at like 3 or 4 in the morning,” Bemmerl said.
Since then, she’s closely followed the royal family, including Kate and William, and even attended their special day.
“We got to see them go to the wedding because they came from Buckingham Palace, turned around and came on back,” she said.
Bemmerl said the experience was magical. And even though this royal shindig is far from traditional with an American actress marrying a British prince, it’s still on Bemmerl's bucket list.
“When we started hearing about Harry and Meghan we were like, 'Should we do it? Let's do it,'” she said.
Bemmerl leaves for Windsor on Wednesday and plans to camp out near the castle.
“We think we may have to camp out for two nights instead of one night, so we'll get there Thursday morning. We've got a tent waiting for us so we're going to go check it out and see where to go,” she said.
She doesn't have an outfit nailed down quite yet, but she does have her fascinator (a fancy name for a hat) and plans to capture plenty of Kodak moments from this trip and get a glimpse at the royal grandchildren.
“Of course, I've now watched since then George and Charlotte and Louis be born,” she said.
Millions are expected to watch here in the United States alone! Prince William and Kate's wedding got nearly 23 million viewers in the U.S. when they got married in 2011. Plus, 17 million Americans watched in 1981 when Princess Di and Charles tied the knot. Now we'll see where Harry and Meghan rank.
