PHOENIX — Yes, you read that right. ADOT cameras captured an unusual sight early Wednesday morning: a golf cart being driven on the freeway.

Cameras near westbound I-10 near Wild Horse Pass captured images of the cart rolling down the freeway in the middle lane.

According to DPS, troopers received calls about the golf cart just before 4 a.m.

Several vehicles can be seen behind the cart, trying to avoid crashing with it. DPS said passing motorists helped stop the golf cart safely on the side of the freeway, which was being driven by an 83-year-old man.

According to DPS the man's wife picked him up from the scene.

DPS said the man showed no signs of impairment, but the department did not say why the man was driving the golf cart on the I-10.

The driver, his wife and the golf cart have been reunited, DPS said.
