Father and son die in Glendale house fire

A 66-year-old man and his 29-year-old son with special needs died in the fire, according to officials.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A house fire in Glendale has left a father and son dead. 

Firefighters responded to a home near 55th and Olive avenues on Tuesday around 3 a.m.

Stephen Skuba, 66, was rescued from the burning home. Despite life-saving efforts he died at the scene.

Firefighters rescued a second man from the house, Stephen Skuba's 29-year-old son with special needs Robert Skuba. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.

No other injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Initial reports point to the cause being electrical.  

Firefighters say the home did not have working smoke detectors.
