Funeral services Friday for firefighter who was shot and killed

Capt. Brayer, 34, died after he was shot in the head Sunday morning, Scottsdale police say. The suspect, 21-year-old Herron Parks, has been charged with second degree murder.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - It's been a very difficult week for the Tempe Fire Department, as well as friends and family of the fire captain who was shot and killed in Scottsdale last weekend. On Friday, those people are coming together to remember Capt. Kyle Brayer at a funeral service in Scottsdale.

Loved ones will gather at Scottsdale Bible Church to remember Brayer.

A flag will be hung from ladder 276 at 8 a.m. The hearse and honor guard are scheduled to arrive at 9 a.m.

During the service, family members and Tempe Fire Chief Greg Ruiz are expected to speak about Brayer.

Since Brayer's death, friends and fellow firefighters have been taking to social media to express their pain and loss.

Brayer would've turned 35 on February 18.

Out of respect for the family, Team 12 will not have a camera inside of the services.
