PEORIA, Ariz. - Five-month-old Israel Sebastian Avila has been identified to 12 News as the child who died after being pulled from a hot car parked in the Cedar Meadows apartment complex parking lot Sunday.

Coworkers of the mother of the child confirmed to 12 News they've set up a GoFundMe account to help the family with funeral costs.

Peoria police responded to the complex off 85th Avenue and Peoria Avenue on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. after 18-year-old Jose Garcia, Jr. the child's uncle, and 23-year-old Monique Avila discovered the unresponsive child in the backseat of their car.

"Me and my best friend were up here listening to music and we heard screaming," said Andrea Perea, who lives near the couple's apartment.

According to police documents, the couple agreed to watch the baby while the mother was at work. After picking up the child, they told investigators they arrived back home, but didn't take the child out of the car.

Police estimate the child was left in the car for about four hours and the car was parked in an unshaded area.

"Everybody was in a panic. I go (into the apartment) and she was like “Can you help me? Can you help me?” said Lottie Baker, a neighbor. "I tried to administer CPR to the baby -- the baby was blue, he was dead. I tried anyway."

Details in the paperwork reveal Garcia held the child up to an air vent and also poured water over him in an attempt to revive him.

Both caretakers face one count of child abuse and will be back in court Oct. 10.
