PHOENIX - Fire crews battled a house fire in south Phoenix early Friday near 7th Street and Broadway.

The fire knocked down electrical lines and 7th Street was closed in the area.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they say the flames as high as 20 feet; by 5 a.m. the smoke had died down and crews were working to put out hot spots.

The structure is a small, abandoned apartment building. While no one was living there when the fire started, investigators think there may have been squatters inside.

This is the location of another fire on June 14.

Phoenix Fire Department did say they had their hands full with this blaze at first, and firefighters were expected to be on the scene for at least a couple hours investigating the cause.

No one was displaced and no one was hurt.
