The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force in Phoenix is hoping the public can help identify a woman who they believe is responsible for robbing several banks in the Phoenix area.

According to the FBI, a woman has robbed five banks with the most recent robbery taking place on Tuesday morning at the Chase Bank at 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

In photos from surveillance footage, the suspect appears to have a petite build and dark hair. FBI detectives believe she is 50 to 60 years old and is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 115 to 130 pounds. She is seen wearing a hat and big sunglasses and possibly a black wig.

The robberies date back to Aug. 4 where she entered a Chase Bank at 30th and Peoria avenues and demanded money by giving the teller a note. She fled once she got the money. On Sept. 10, she tried the same maneuver at a Wells Fargo near Baseline and Gilbert roads but ran without any money when the teller called for the manager.

In November, she attempted to rob a Chase Bank on Rural and Baseline roads but left without any money. Days later, she returned to the same bank she robbed in August and got away with a known amount, FBI said.

The FBI asks anyone with information on the identity of the suspect to contact the FBI's Phoenix Field Office at 623 466-1999 or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov, or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).
