TEMPE, Ariz. — The family of a Tempe father found shot and killed last October is hoping for answers.

Sadly, there are still no leads nor suspects in the death of Corey Lynch. The 38-year-old was found shot and killed in the parking lot of the Broadway Park Apartments near Broadway Road and Hardy Drive on October 18, 2017 just after 8 p.m., according to police.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

“They told me that Corey was shot and that he wasn't alive anymore,” said Jessica Onuma, who shares a son with Lynch.

Onuma says it was a heart wrenching conversation she will never forget.

"And on the other side of my door was my son wanting to know what was going on,” she said.

Onuma said she had to explain through tears: "Somebody shot dad and we’re not going to see him again."

Lynch's sister and her husband are also reeling from the loss.

“He was my protector and just somebody I never ever, in a million years in my entire life thought that I would have to learn to live without,” said Billie Sartorius, Lynch's sister.

Whoever is responsible for Lynch's death is still out there.

“There’s probably multiple out there that may have seen something or seen the actual event that occurred that left us all shattered,” Sartorius said.

Nearly 10 months later now, they are pleading someone comes forward.

“We are just begging to come forward with any information, even if you think it’s insignificant,” Sartorius said.

A candlelight vigil is planned on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. right outside the Broadway Park Apartment complex where he was found shot.
