MESA, Ariz. - 12 News has obtained exclusive officer bodycam video of police taking down a man who would later be arrested after an armed crime spree that injured two people along the Beeline Highway in May 2016 that would include firing shots at cars -- including a state trooper's cruiser -- and a carjacking.

It wasn’t his first run-in with the law.

On the video, things get physical between 36-year-old James David Walker and police, as well as a woman seen sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle with him. Despite multiple commands, both refuse to get out.

Officer: "Pepper spray is coming, bro. It's in his hand."

On video, officers talk to Walker and his wife, Breanne, after receiving a report the two were smoking marijuana from a large bong outside Amazing Jakes in Mesa on March 13.

Officer: "He's gonna run!"

The video shows an officer pepper-spraying the inside of the SUV, after they refuse to get out.

All of this was recorded on a Mesa police officer's bodycam.

Through the lens of another officer's bodycam, you can see Walker's vehicle lunge forward and ram a police car, then another not shown on camera. Next you hear a loud bang and officers yelling.

Officer: "Stop now, stop now, stop now! Get out of the car. Taser!"

Officers break the driver's window, deploy a Taser and pull Walker out, putting him in handcuffs.

Walker: "Okay, okay!"

The officer then calls over the radio for the fire department.

Officer: "We need Fire to stage; one tase."

An officer yells at Walker to get out of the car and you can hear someone yelling in the background, it sounds like his wife.

Officer: “Get out of the car!”

Finally officers were able to get him on the ground.

Officer: “Check for weapons ... knife!”

Then they did a weapons check and let him know, he and his wife were under arrest.

Officer: "You know you have a couple counts of aggravated assault now ... you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law."

Following this incident, police confiscated all of the drugs and paraphernalia in the couple's possession.

Both Walker and his wife were booked into jail for multiple charges including aggravated assault on law enforcement.

When Walker was 16 years old he shot and killed a man in Chandler. He had just been released from prison on that second-degree murder charge in 2014.
