PHOENIX — Something you don't hear every day in Phoenix: Work being postponed because temperatures are just too low.
The Arizona Department of Transportation had planned to close Eastbound I-10 from 83rd to 51st avenues. But that closure, the department says, has been postponed.
Phoenix is looking at highs in the 80s this weekend, and even lower on Monday.
ADOT says the road had been planned to be closed for rubberized asphalt, and those cooler temps are, apparently, not good for that kind of work.
The department said the low temps have "project engineers waiting for it to warm up."
ADOT says it will reschedule the closure after the Memorial Day weekend.
