One person died and eight others were injured in a 3-vehicle crash near 7th Street and Baseline Road, Phoenix Police said.
It’s unknown the extent of the injuries of the eight people, but police said they were taken to local hospitals.
On Saturday, around 4 a.m. police said a Volkswagen Passat was traveling northbound on 7th Avenue when it failed to stop at a stop sign turning right, eastbound onto Baseline Road.
Police said that while turning eastbound, the Passat crossed into the westbound lanes of traffic crashing with a Chevy Impala.
The Impala was traveling westbound on Baseline Road and struck a Chevy Tahoe, also traveling westbound.
Phoenix police said four patients in the Passat were required extrication.
The ages range between 16 and 30, according to police.
Baseline Road is closed from 7th to 12 avenues.
Police said impairment is suspected to be a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
