The April 2018 12 Who Care honoree is Live and Learn AZ, a research-based program that targets low-income, adult women from the Phoenix-metro area that provides a financial basics, household budgeting, saving strategies, debt recovery, among other topics.
Success in the program is achieved when a woman completes a training or education program in an area with high employment demand, when there is a realistic opportunity for her to pursue further education and advancement in this field, and when she secures and retains employment that offers a livable wage.
Reaching economic independence and a livable wage is a multi-year, multi-step process requiring a range of resources and a strong support system along the way.
