Body found on I-10 westbound near Hamshire Road identified as man who disappeared in late March

Glenn Earl Stanley, 61, went missing on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

HAMSHIRE, Texas — Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigators now know the identity of a man whose body was found along Interstate 10. 

Glenn Earl Stanley, 61, went missing on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office release. His body was found on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 on Interstate 10 westbound just west of Hamshire Road. 

Stanley was last seen at his home located in the 13000 block of Mustang Trail in Hamshire. He was said to have suffered from dementia and had some trouble speaking. 

Captain Crystal Holmes told 12News Stanley's body was spotted in between a median by a highway worker around 3 p.m. Investigators believe his body had been there for an extended period of time. 

When Stanley was reported missing, deputies asked residents within the area to check their property as “Mr. Stanley may have wandered away from home.”

From a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office release:

Yesterday afternoon, 05/17/2022, Jefferson County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a call around 3:00 p.m. in reference to a deceased person discovered between the concrete barriers of IH10 west of Hamshire Road.
A road construction employee discovered the body and notified JCSO. It appeared that the deceased person had been there for quite some time.

Judge Justin Chesson responded to the scene and ordered an autopsy. Results of the autopsy are not available at this time.

That deceased person has been identified as 61 year old Glenn Earl Stanley. Mr. Stanley was reported missing by his family on 03/23/2022. Mr. Stanley was last seen around 8:00 a.m. on 03/23/2022 at his residence located in the 13000 block of Mustang Trail – Sunchase Addition, Hamshire, Jefferson County, Texas.

Mr. Stanley’s family has been notified. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the residents of the Sunchase Community for allowing Deputies and equipment onto your property and assisting us in the search for Mr. Stanley.
