VIDEO: Armed men seen escorting mom and son into Arizona, border officials say

Border Patrol officials say the mom and her son were apprehended shortly after crossing the US-Mexico border.

PHOENIX — Officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection say cameras along the U.S.-Mexico border captured armed men escorting a Central American mother and her 8-year-old son into Arizona.

Border Patrol officials say the pair crossed the border west of Lukeville. They described it as in an area "commonly used by smugglers to bring large groups of Central Americans into the country illegally."

The CBP video shows some of the men holding assault rifles as the mother and her son crossed over a boundary fence in the area.

Officials say the mom and her son were apprehended shortly after crossing into Arizona.
