Students, staff evacuated after custodian finds bomb threat at Sierra Vista school

According to the Sierra Vista School District, a bomb threat was found on a bathroom wall at Buena High School.

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — Police are investigating and searching room to room after a bomb threat was reported at a high school in southern Arizona Monday night.

According to the Sierra Vista School District, a custodian found a bomb threat on a bathroom wall at Buena High School around 6 p.m.

The only students on campus at the time were football players and cheerleaders. They were evacuated and sent home, Eva Dickerson, Sierra Vista Schools spokesperson said.

The school district expects its schools to be open as normal tomorrow, unless something is found.

The Buena High School principal called the police.

Sierra Vista Police Department and bomb-sniffing K9s are investigating.

The school district is sending out automated calls to parents and staff alerting them of the situation.
