1 dead after small plane crashes near Prescott Airport

The plane was destroyed, and the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - A single-engine Cessna 210 crashed near Prescott Municipal Airport around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA said the plane was destroyed.

The pilot was the only person on board and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The FAA said the pilot had departed from Prescott and was planning to return to the airport.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
