PHOENIX — A historic church in Sacaton, Arizona, was completely lost to a suspected arson fire, according to the Gila River Fire Department.

The fire department shared photos showing the C.H. Cook Memorial Church up in flames. The fire department said the entire church was engulfed in fire when crews arrived at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the Gila River Police Department took three suspects into custody, the fire department said. It is unclear if those people are still suspects.

The C.H. Cook Memorial Church was built in 1887. The Presbyterian church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
