Flagstaff release body cam footage of police shooting that killed suspect

Body camera footage shows a police officer repeatedly giving commands to the suspect before opening fire.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Flagstaff police have released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting in which a man was killed last week.

A person called police on Friday, Feb. 9, saying she had been confronted by a man with a gun near Coconino Avenue and Walnut Street.

Upon their arrival, officers immediately found a suspect matching the description the caller gave.

Police said they repeatedly demanded the man drop the firearm and not to wave it around or point it at anyone, but he failed to comply.

The body camera footage, which the Flagstaff Police Department has uploaded to YouTube, shows a police officer repeatedly giving commands to the suspect before opening fire.

After rendering medical aid, the suspect was pronounced deceased on scene.

No officers or other bystanders were hurt in the incident, according to police.
