A new memorial stone bearing the name of Tyler Edenhofer, the trooper killed in the line of duty back in July, was unveiled at the Arizona Department of Public Safety's District 4 headquarters in Yuma Thursday.
DPS said Edenhofer was the fourth trooper from the department's District 4 to die in the line of duty.
Edenhofer, who was in his last week of training and assigned to Quartzsite, was shot and killed the night of July 25, 2018, during a struggle with a suspect.
His handcuffs were later used to take the suspect into jail, signifying Edenhofer's "completion of the call for service that ultimately took his life," DPS said.
DPS said the Arizona State Troopers Association provided the stone and Edenhofer's family was there to see it unveiled.
"We will never forget Trooper Tyler Edenhofer," the stone reads.
