WICKENBURG, Ariz. — Crews are currently working to put out a fire located 10 miles southwest of Wickenburg that started up on Monday.

The fire grew to 2,034 acres as of Tuesday morning and was 40% contained.

Officials say as of 8:45 p.m. Monday, the fire is measured at 1,744 acres. Two hours earlier, the fire was measured at just 150 acres.

According to the Arizona Bureau of Land Management, much of the additional acreage was from firefighters conducting burnout operations to slow the fire by burning dry vegetation.
