100-year-old grandma celebrates birthday by skydiving

Many retirees spend their golden years traveling, playing golf or just relaxing. Not Jane Haynes, an adventurer at heart, she's gone whitewater rafting to hiking the Grand Canyon—all after 60.

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — What better way to celebrate your birthday than from 13,000 feet in the air?

That’s just what Jane Haynes did. She celebrated her 100th birthday by skydiving.

“I wasn't scared, just did it,” said Haynes.

Jane got the urge to make the jump after seeing her granddaughter do it.

“I floated around and I saw the world down below and I couldn't figure out where it was, seemed to be everywhere,” said Haynes.

You can say Jane has been living life to the fullest.

“She told me at one point that her life began at 60,” said her daughter, Patricia Haynes.

Jane has hiked the Grand Canyon and mountains in Canada, climbed ruins in Guatemala and gone whitewater rafting in Alaska—all in her 70s and 80s.

“Anything I can think of, I would try to do,” Haynes said.
