YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say an attempted home invasion in Yuma has left one woman dead and three others wounded.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says people inside the home were awakened by noise outside of people trying to get inside early Thursday.

Sheriff's spokesman Alfonso Zavala says one of the home's occupants fired several shots when four people tried to enter the house.

Zavala says all four people were hit.

Zavala says 28-year-old Jessica Aynes, of Yuma, died at a hospital.

Two people, 36-year-old Edith Guerrero of Somerton and 27-year-old Leonardo Gonzalez of Yuma, were flown to a Phoenix hospital for treatment.

The fourth, 18-year-old Jaden James of Mesa, was hospitalized in Yuma.

Zavala says the case remains under investigation.
