On the busiest block, in the biggest crowd in Cleveland history, the eye still stops at these six ladies.
They're LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club
“You know how you love your grandchildren? We love him too," said Alder Chapman, LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club
Alder Chapman is its president. Most of the real fan club’s 200 members are from LeBron’s hometown of Akron and have been cheering him on since before he first wore Cavalier colors.
In 2006, a fan club began.
“It was just a joy to say, ‘Wow, look at that!’ He’s making baskets when some of ‘em wasn’t making baskets, and I said, ‘Wow, he’s gonna be great one day," said Anita Wilkins, LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club.
They watched the hometown boy lead the hometown team to a title, and came three days later to Cleveland, shirt, shoes, hat, and heart.
“He came back and brought a championship to Cleveland, but he’s a kid from Akron, so this is why we all enjoy it," said Anita Wilkins, LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club
On this day, these six ladies couldn’t get to the parade route, so they found a screen, spied an Akron icon.
“Our motto is love and fun, love for LeBron, love for each other, and we love having fun. We’re having fun now!” said Alder Chapman, LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club
