PHOENIX — With so much to keep in mind during the coronavirus pandemic, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is warning people to also watch out for scammers.

The sheriff's office said it has not received any reports of scams in the county so far, but they want to make sure people don't fall victim to fraudsters trying to take advantage of the virus outbreak.

Scammers may call people claiming their loved one is at the hospital infected with COVID-19 and their health insurance doesn't cover treatment, then ask for payment to help with the costs, MCSO warned.

They may also call seniors and tell them they are from a medical organization with a limited supply of the vaccine against COVID-19.

There is no vaccine for the disease at this time.

If you think you are a victim of a COVID-19 scam, call 602-876-TIPS (8477).
