Person detained by Arizona ICE agents tests positive for coronavirus

The department says the patient is a 45-year-old person from Guatemala who was detained in Eloy.

ELOY, Ariz. — A person detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Arizona was diagnosed with COVID-19, the department said Wednesday.

The department says a 45-year-old person from Guatemala tested positive. The person is being held and receiving treatment at La Palma Correctional Center.

This is the first case of coronavirus at an Arizona ICE facility. Anyone who has been in contact with the detainee is being monitored for symptoms.
