FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. — The wife of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is in the intensive care unit at a local hospital recovering from a rattlesnake bite.
Joe Arpaio said a rattlesnake got into their living room at their Fountain Hills home and bit Ava on her left leg.
Ava is in the ICU at HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center. She is expected to be there for a few days.
Arpaio said he has to leave town for a couple of days to give a “controversial” speech but will be back quickly.
Ava, in the meantime, will be cared for by their daughter.
