'The Voice' host Carson Daly got his first speeding ticket in Arizona

He was doing 120 mph on the I-10 on his way to see family in Phoenix with his mom in the car.

Carson Daly says he has "great roots" in Arizona.

"The Voice" host and Today Show correspondent had one of his first radio gigs in Tucson.

"I lived in Tucson for a hot second with Jimmy Kimmel of all people," Daly said on Today in AZ.

Daly said he lived in Palm Springs and had family in Phoenix. And on his way to visit them is when he got his first speeding ticket on the I-10.

He was going 120 mph.

"My mom was in the car too," he said.

Daly joined "Today" host Savannah Guthrie for a chat with Paul Gerke and Emma Jade on Today in AZ.

The group chatted about the holidays and whether re-gifting was OK and which conversation topic was off limits at the dinner table.

And if you're wondering, Guthrie is cool with re-gifting, just don't talk politics at her dinner table.
