PHOENIX — Childish Gambino is starting the last leg of his tour off on the wrong foot.
The Grammy, Golden Globe and Emmy-Award winning rapper/actor, also known by day as Donald Glover, rescheduled the remainder of his North American tour Wednesday over an apparent impairment. This pushes back his Valley show scheduled for Oct. 5 at Gila River Arena to Dec. 15.
"Under doctors’ orders, Childish Gambino has postponed his remaining 'This Is America Tour' dates until later this year due to an injury," Live Nation said in a statement to USA TODAY.
Although the entertainment company didn't disclose the nature of Glover's injury, TMZ reported he broke his foot during a concert in Dallas Sunday, forcing him to cut his set short.
Fam Rothstein of Wolf + Rothstein, who partnered with Live Nation to produce the tour, assured fans on Twitter Tuesday that the shows are just "postponed, not cancelled."
He continued: "My guy played through the pain, but has to sit some dates out. Back before the years over.”
The injury is also forcing Gambino to cancel his appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival next month. He will still perform at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans on Oct. 27.
Glover kicked off the tour earlier this month in Atlanta, the namesake of the Emmy award-winning TV series he created and stars in on FX.
During the concert, he announced this would be his last tour as Childish Gambino; he revealed he was retiring his stage name last year.
