Police arrest man wanted in connection with shooting that left 15-year-old dead at Desert Sky Mall

Police were looking for 27-year-old Daymond Deray Hayes, wanted in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old at Desert Sky Mall on Tuesday.

PHOENIX — Police arrested a suspect wanted for shooting and killing a 15-year-old at Desert Sky Mall on Tuesday. 

Police said Tuesday there was an argument between two groups of teens and young men that escalated into a shooting. The victim was in critical condition then died from his injuries, police said Thursday. 

The suspect involved has been identified by police as 27-year-old Daymond Deray Hayes.The victim was identified on Friday as Anthony Castillo.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide is encouraged to call police. 

The shooting happened inside the mall, police said. 

Detectives at the scene closed off the south end of the mall for the rest of the day.
