PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office busted a 20-year-old man transporting 18 pounds of methamphetamine from Phoenix early Saturday morning thanks to K9 "Haddie."

According to YCSO, during a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m. on I-17 northbound, a deputy pulled over Jhampier Mendoza Torez, who was unusually nervous during the traffic stop and initial interaction with the K9 deputy.

The deputy asked Torez if he could search the vehicle and Torez declined. That's when the deputy brought out Haddie for an exterior sniff of the Chevrolet Camaro. After Haddie gave a positive alert, deputies searched the vehicle and found marks on the rear driver seat panel and passenger seat panel, indicating they had been removed recently.

Deputies removed them and found 18 plastic food saver bags, later testing positive high-grade meth. Torez admitted he was being paid to transport the meth and admitted to prior smuggling and he was placed under arrest.
