MESA, Ariz. — Mesa police are investigating the homicide of a local woman and trying to gather information about the incident.
The victim was a 40-year-old woman who was shot and then hit by a vehicle, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody and police believe that he and the victim knew each other.The suspect is a 53-year-old man and is reportedly the woman's husband.
The suspect drove to allegedly Mesa Police headquarters, where he attempted to take his own life, police said. At this time, the suspect is in the hospital and is listed in critical condition.
There has been no further information, but the investigation is ongoing.
Update: The victim is no longer believed to have been hit by a vehicle. Through witness interviews, officers determined that the sole cause of death was a gunshot wound, police said.
