KINGMAN, Ariz. - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office made an arrest after one man was connected to a series of armed robberies over the past year, including one that led to an officer involved shooting.

Anthony Scott Axton, 32, of Kingman, had multiple active arrest warrants, according to MCSO.

The officer involved shooting occurred on July 1 after officers responded to an ongoing armed robbery in the 3600 block of Andy Devine Avenue. A suspect opened fire on the officers arriving to the scene, hitting their squad cars, police said.

Officers returned fire and Axton, who was wearing body armor, was shot in the face and taken to a local hospital.

Axton was later transported to United Medical Center in Las Vegas to be treated for his gunshot wound. He was in custody of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department during that time.

He was recently released from the hospital and custody was immediately transferred to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and now Axton resides in the Mohave County Jail.

Now, Axton faces 22 felony charges including attempt to commit first degree murder, three counts if aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of kidnapping, three counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of armed robbery, four counts of misconduct involving body armor, two counts of theft, burglary in the first degree, burglary in the third degree and criminal damage.

He faces more charges that will come later in the investigation, according to MCSO.
