GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. — The U.S. Marshals Service located a kidnapped child and arrested a fugitive in Golden Valley on Wednesday.

Dustin Messner, 37, abducted his 8-year-old son from Stockton, California on April 5, the Marshals Service said.

During his two weeks on the run, authorities say Messner made several comments and posts on his social media accounts saying that man's law had no authority over him and he would not be returning his son.

Messner also reportedly posted video of firearms and threatened any law enforcement who tried to take his son from him.

The District Attorney Investigators Office in San Joaquin County asked for help from the U.S. Marshals Service in finding and arresting Messner.

Marshals and ATF agents found Messner and his son at a home in Golden Valley on April 22.

They arrested Messner without incident and turned the boy over to Child Protective Services. The child was reunited with his mother on Thursday.

Messner was taken to the Mohave County Detention Center, where he awaits extradition back to California.
