DATELAND, Arizona — Customs and Border Protection apprehended six Mexican nationals and four Honduran nationals who attempted to smuggle marijuana through Dateland Tuesday night.
CBP said the Wellton Station Border Patrol agents were alerted by the Marine Corps supporting them with operations about a group of people spotted running through the desert.
The agents found the 10 people with bundles of marijuana, CBP said.
The group had a total of about 286 pounds of marijuana with a value of more than $143,000, CBP said.
CBP said the group the 10 people will be charged with drug smuggling and immigration violations.
