Car wash fundraiser held for family of toddler, grandmother killed in hit-and-run

A suspect still has not been named.

PHOENIX - The person who ran over and killed a grandmother and her grandson has still not been caught. The families of Wanda Trujillo and Enoch Trujillo came together for a car wash Sunday morning to raise money for funeral costs.

Strength in unity is how this family is getting by in the days following the death of 2-year-old Enoch Trujillo and his grandmother Wanda.

Priscilla Molina, Enoch’s maternal grandmother, believes Wanda and Enoch were on their way to the store Friday evening crossing the intersection at 16th Street near Broadway Rd.

“Oh my grandson he was so special," Molina said. "He liked Thomas the Train. I had a table set up for him so he could play with his toys."

"Grandma was happy to see him and was going to take him to Circle K and he loved Circle K and get snacks and bring him back with his little goodie bag and I don’t know,” Molina said.

The pair never made it to the store. They were struck by an older model SUV. The driver never stopped to check on them.

“They should have stayed there they should have left them for dead they could have saved my grandson and grandmother,” Molina said.

“I can’t see how somebody could do this and just take off, we want anyone with information to come forward we want justice,” one volunteer at the car wash said.

Anyone with information about the hit and run should call Phoenix police.
